2025 Zone Carnival Nominations

4 Mar by Josh Colbourn

Dear BCC Families,

Yesterday you were informed that the upcoming Brindabella school swimming carnivals, scheduled for the 6th and 7th of March have been postponed.

We understand that many students were looking forward to this event and we apologise for any resulting inconvenience. We are currently unable to provide a rescheduled date, however we can confirm that representative pathways will still be available to competitive students through a nomination process.

Children can be nominated from ages 9 to 19. As long as your child has already turned 9 years old or is turning 9 before or on December 31st 2025.

How to Nominate –

There are 3 ways a parent or carer can nominate a student for consideration.

1. A student can attend an ACT swimming meet or have already attended one this season (Swimming ACT – Meet Calendar) and receive an official recorded time for their event/s and can submit those results, including the name, D.O.B and date of the meet.

2. A student can have their results recorded by an official swim coach or program (if they are involved in a regular swim training program or club) and submit their results, including the name of the program/ coach and the date of the recorded results.

3. If neither of the 2 above options are viable for a student, the school can accept a student’s results from the 2024 Brindabella swimming carnival.

- If your student has arrived from another school in 2025, they can submit their previous schools 2024 swimming carnival results and include the name of the school and contact information of the swimming convenor.

Closure date of Nominations –

The closure date for all nominations will be 5pm on Monday the 17th of March. This is to allow time for all the nominations to be processed, checked and ranked before the regional carnival submissions are due.

Some age groups and race types may only have a couple of nominations and as a result, will all qualify for regional carnivals, while other races may be very popular, just like the actual swimming carnival and all nominations will need to be ranked properly and verified in order to accurately submit the nominations to regional carnivals.

Submission of Nominations –

All nominations will be completed on Stack Team App in the Register and Pay section.

Once the nominations are finalised, parents/carer’s of successful nominations will be sent an invitation allowing them to give their child permission and registration to attend the zone carnivals.

The 12 years and under carnival (primary) is on Wednesday April 2nd at the AIS.

The 13 years and over carnival (secondary) Tuesday April 8th at the AIS.

Both carnivals will require participants to be dropped off and collected by parents.

Thankyou for your understanding and we look forward to helping make opportunities for our students.

Kind Regards,
BCC Sport
